January Really Came Through!

SkiSchool.png

After a somewhat bumpy start, mountain conditions have steadily improved throughout January, bringing us closer to that mid-season perfection we all anticipate. However, we're not quite there yet. As a recent conditions report advises, "keep your head on a swivel as thin cover exists and can appear unexpectedly." Despite this small caution, the moguls are soft, the groomers are smooth, and the nooks and crannies are filling in nicely with each snow cycle.

We are excited to announce the continuation of our spring trial of splitting a lift crew between Birdland and Lift 4. Due to popular demand for more Birdland access and additional race training, we will be operating Birdland on Fridays from 9:30a to 2:30p, starting January 24th. Afterward, the crew will transition to Lift 4/Practice Slope, which will run from 3:00p to 5:00p.

January Meeting Minutes

From an operational standpoint, snowmaking has concluded for the season, with snow covering all terrain accessible by the guns, including large reserves for use during any warm spells. Recent snowfall has enabled additional grooming with that Lake Champlain powder gradually accumulating.

Management Report

With us 1/3rd of the way through the season, it's beginning to feel like we are going to have a good ‘ole fashion Vermont winter. It is great to be busy and even more rewarding to see the team stick together and do what needs to be done to keep the Mad River Glen ski engine running.

Finance Committee Report

A December to remember… December far exceeded budget on a revenue basis, driven by good weather allowing us to operate on the main mountain. We had a 90% increase in skier traffic against last year including almost double the budget day ticket revenue.
